Survivors Network (SN) Africa in a bid to reach more women and girls who have suffered from gender based violence or faced human trafficking or modern day slavery organized open door days in 2021 and invited the public and other stakeholders to take part.
They have effectively built a collaboration and networking system between SN Africa and other international and local organizations working in their sphere of intervention. This is enabling them have more women and girls who need their support to be referred to them. It is also building knowledge exchange platforms to enable them share best practices with other organizations.
Francisca Mbuli says “In order for other humanitarian NGOs in the field to know what we do and equally come together for us to effectively intervene to the beneficiaries of this project, we usually host programs where we invite them to be a part of. One of such programs was the commemoration of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, 2021. We took the initiative and invited some NGOs, CSOs, CBOs, FBOs and some state officials to commemorate the day at the safe space after which they then had a tour of the safe space and the vocational training center. This made us have frequent visits from other organizations during the year like Authentic Memorial Foundation , International Red Cross Commission, Doctors Without Borders, INTERSOS amongst others who came some times to visit and sometimes with survivors they are referring to us who need a safe shelter. We equally have individual visitors or representatives from authorities like the Delegate of Social Affairs and also the Traditional ruler of the town who come to check on the wellbeing of the inmates.”
